Hi, my name is Miss Jamie. I am happy to be joining the Children Central team as the Assistant Director. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education and have been an educator for almost 30 years. I taught high school English in the Philadelphia school system for approximately 15 years. I left there looking for a new challenge and something I was passionate about. I have always loved working with children. In 2015, with the help of my sister-in-law, I opened my own childcare center. We were open for almost 5 years. I loved being around the kids. Their energy and enthusiasm and curiosity about life in the world around them was contagious. I was heartbroken when I had to close my center due to facility problems. I then went into real estate, but I never lost my passion for children and childcare.
Over the past year, I realized that I really wanted to be involved with childcare again. I was looking for the right opportunity to be part of a childcare family once again. I was so pleased to discover there was an open position at Children Central. The focus here really is children- both care and education. Their values closely align with mine. Children Central is the facility I always envisioned . The staff truly love children and have their best interests at heart. I am honored and excited to join the team!
One reason I am drawn to childcare is because as a mother, I saw how important and influential my own children’s early educational experiences were at their childcare center. I look forward to working with all the staff, students, and families and watching our children learn and grow. I have a 21 year old son, Avery, and a 16 year old daughter, Henna. I love to spend as much time with them as I can since they are getting older and forging their own paths. We also have a dog named Marly, who is a little cutie with lots of love. In my free time, I love to read. I also have been working on writing projects. Travel and music are some of my favorite things as well.
I am glad to start this journey here at this amazing center. I consider myself blessed to be at Children Center with these incredible children, parents and staff.
