Meet Miss Denise!
Hi, Miss Denise and I are excited to join the Children Central family as the center director. I have been in education for over 30 years, the last 22 years as a Director. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
I was drawn to this field because there is something unique about when a child figures something out about the world – whether taking a first step or helping a friend. It has never gotten old for me.
As an educator and mother, I am aware of the many emotions you may be juggling now; choosing a school for your child is never easy. I look forward to working with all parents/guardians and establishing positive relationships. I am a strong proponent of an open-door policy, and welcome conversations regarding your child(ren) to ensure a successful school year.
My methodology of learning is through structured play. This provides opportunities for children to engage with people, objects, and the environment, both actively and imaginatively. When playing, children may be organizing, constructing, manipulating, pretending, exploring, investigating, creating, interacting, imagining, negotiating, and making sense of their world. It promotes a child’s development (physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and creative) and may also support a broad range of literacy and numeracy skills depending on how it is utilized. Learning through play also allows each child to learn at their own pace.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our yellow lab in my free time. The past few months have been a doozy as my twins began their college journey and left our home. This mom was not ready for an empty nest so soon. Since they are only about 2 hours away (in opposite directions), I try to visit them as often as possible. I love the beach, and if I had my way, I would have a home right on the beach to listen to the waves all day.
I cannot wait to begin this journey. Thank you for entrusting your precious children to us; we do not take our role lightly. I look forward to making lasting memories together.
